Mud Therapy

Mud therapy is a naturopathy and its use for health benefits is not a new phenomenon, this dates back to few hundred years before Christ. Mud is used in different forms to take advantage of its medicinal effects, such as Mud bath, mud pack, etc. Mud has a remarkable property to refresh and rejuvenate the body. Today there are spas which offers mud therapy to provide relaxation and healing for variety of skin, bone,joints and muscle condition. Mud therapy mainly include two forms

1. mud pack
2. mad bath
1. Mud pack :

The mud which is used to make pack is obtained from 10 Cm below the ground. It is swifted to remove impurities like pebbles and compost. Then it is mixed with warm water to make a smooth paste. This paste is allowed to cool then is applied on strip
of cloth, this is called mud bandage and its size basically depend upon the requirement. Once a mud bandage is applied it is covered with a protective covering normally a flannel then it is kept for 10- 30 min.
Mud pack is beneficial for headache, eye trouble,: It reduced the irritation of the eyes hence useful in cases of Conjunctivitis, hemorrhage in the eyeball, itching of the eyes, allergy
c conditions etc. It is also useful in cases of errors of refraction like short sight and long sight and is especially useful in Glaucoma where it helps
to reduce eyeball tension.

Mud bath: is similar to mud pack the only difference is that is is applied on a large area or on entire body. A cleansing warm water bath and cold shower is taken after a mud bath. The duration of mud bath is from 30 min. to an hour, care should be taken that the person might not catch cold. Mud bath tone up skin and also enhance blood circulation. Frequent application also help to improve complexion. Mud bath is also generally recommended for all skin diseases, including Psoriasis, Leucoderma and Leprosy, Urticaria and other allergic conditions of the skin.
